Job Summary:
The Air Transportation Planner is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the air transportation operations within the organization. This role involves developing efficient air transportation plans, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods via air transportation. The Air Transportation Planner must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement air transportation plans to support the efficient movement of goods and materials.
2. Collaborate with internal teams to understand transportation requirements and develop strategies to optimize air transportation operations.
3. Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, and other service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective air transportation services.
4. Analyze transportation data, including flight schedules, routes, and costs, to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
5. Monitor and track air transportation performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, flight utilization, and transport costs, and report findings to management.
6. Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate the viability of new air transportation routes, partnerships, and service providers.
7. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to air transportation operations.
8. Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate contracts and agreements with airlines and service providers.
9. Maintain and update transportation databases, systems, and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility of transportation information.
10. Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in air transportation planning.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in transportation planning, preferably in the air transportation industry.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex transportation data and make informed decisions.
4. Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
5. Proficient in using transportation management systems (TMS), database management, and Microsoft Office Suite.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with airlines and service providers.
8. Detail-oriented and able to maintain a high level of accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
9. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to air transportation operations.
10. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
